In a move that sent shockwaves through the cannabis community, former High Times Senior Brand Manager AJ Wong has joined the team at top cannabis tech platform BudTrader.com, taking on the role of Head of Business Development.
BudTrader CEO Brad McLaughlin confirmed the hiring, saying, “I feel like we got an MVP player from the Yankees. I want to publicly welcome AJ to the BudTrader family. I couldn’t be prouder that he is joining our team.”
Wong will also help BudTrader with their newly launched BudTrader Canada platform www.budtrader.ca.
The hiring of AJ Wong is not the only high level executive to join the BudTrader team. In April, the brand hired Grant Koeneke, former CTO for industry giant Weedmaps. Other high-profile investors and advisors who are now backing BudTrader.com include Doug Leighton, a hedge fund manager who took MassRoots public, LA rapper and entrepreneur Slim 400, and NFL champion and cannabis advocate Marvin Washington.
Industry insiders speculate that BudTrader could be gearing up for a possible IPO (initial public offering) or a ICO (initial crypto-coin offering). When asked about this the BudTrader boss had this to say, “We’re exploring all financing and capital raising options at this point. We will continue to grow our platform, technology and brand throughout North America in 2018.”
BudTrader.com is the largest online medical marijuana marketplace in the world. The unique platform allows users to post free classifieds-style ads for cannabis products, services, business opportunities, job openings and more.
